About my Farm

Farm Sasaki is located at Notrh of Nagano city ,prefectural capital.

Our farm is sat on the southern slope where apples get many sunlight, at Nagano Basin.

There are another orchard grape,peach and pear around our farm.

We've started to grow apples from the end of world war two by my grand father

and my father until now, this time I and my parents is working everyday.

Growing apples takes many labour through the year.

We'd like to grow better apples without waste of any effort.

Harvest time ranges from early(Aug),middle(Sep ,Oct) until late(Dec).

Apple Cultivation

Apple cultivation has many process as follows in one year.

Spring

After cherry blossoms bloom, at the end of april the apple flower bloom same time.
After blooming, "picking flowers" and "artificial pollination" .
It is formed fruit from then pollinated flowers , and the fruit thinning in order to adjust the number of fruit.

Summer

In summer , we mow the field and watering.
After OBON holiday ,end of the August , early grown apples begins to be harvested .

Autumn秋

From September we remove leafs around fruit to urge coloring.
From middle of september until December, we begin to harvest apples and ship to local market or customers.

Winter 冬

In winter , we prune away some of unnecessary branch.

In Winter all the apple trees are covered with snows and quietly wait for spring coming.

Previously I worked at local factory for 15 years. I become to be farmer and took over some of my parents farm on 2013.  I have been helped my parents since childhood and accustomed with agriculture,

but I still have to learn the way to grow better apples.
